Floyd James is an experienced gardener and landscaper with 20 years of professional working experience. His father, who was also a gardener and managed contracts for borough parks and recreations in London, enrolled Floyd James on an amenity horticulture apprenticeship at 16 which was completed alongside working for the council in parks and on bowling greens. Floyd wanted to further his career and skill set so completed a 2 year Diploma in Garden Design and Construction at Capel Manor College, London's only specialist environmental college and then went on to gain his Royal Horticulture Certificate. Following this he began managing garden maintenance rounds for high end private customers in Chelsea and Kensington; furthering his skills by assisting and eventually taking lead on hard-landscaping projects. Floyd moved to Eastbourne from London to provide his children with a better quality of life and met Stephen when working together on a paving project.
Stephen Archer worked in Central London as a Graphic designer for 20 years before deciding to move his family to Eastbourne. He has always had a passion for gardening and decided to turn this passion in to a career when he made the move. Stephen Archer spent almost 10 years building a portfolio of clients who he carried out regular work for and has become an avid landscape gardener. Stephen has been able to build on the skills he gained as a graphic designer when moving in to garden design which has been a huge advantage.
A few years ago we teamed up on some joint projects before making the decision to setup a partnership combining our skills, experience and passion for gardening and landscaping. Its been a great success and we firmly believe in keeping things small to ensure we can maintain our high quality. As this is the case, the two of us manage all of our garden maintenance jobs and we have another team we use to assist us for any larger landscaping. This enables us to build up a great working relationship with our customers and means that they experience consistency and security.
"I have been very impressed with the service that I have received throughout, from the design stage through to the implementation of our newly created border. The garden design accurately reflected my brief, for a low maintenance garden suitable for a shady and/or sunny spot. All through the project, Floyd and Steve ensured that I was happy with both the design and plant choices and they also explained how to look after them once they had been planted. When I am out in the garden, passers-by frequently stop to admire it and say how lovely the garden and plants look. I highly recommend and can’t thank them enough for such a great job." - Customer in Willingdon
